Thomas Lovewell Invalid Pension 1891

After passage of the 1890 Dependent and Disability Pension Act, veterans who listed their infirmities and were examined by a medical board, might be granted a pension of $12 a month.  The cause for disability did not have to be related to military service, but must not have arisen from “pernicious habits."
